Meet Baby #2

We are officially at the half way mark - 20 weeks along!  We had an ultrasound appointment this morning and we were very excited to see Baby Redding, unfortunately baby was not so excited to show that sweet little face and hung out most of the time with his/her little feet up over his/her head. Right at the very end of our appointment the legs moved and we were able to get a quick profile peek. It is still a moment that takes your breath away!   All of the measurements for the baby are right on track except baby is measuring on the tall side and is at the length of a 22 week old baby - clearly that gene comes from Mom :)

Thursday

The puppy obsession continues

This morning Cole was laying with his head on my lap and I asked him if he could hear the baby in Mommy's tummy.  He stood up and pointed to his own belly and said "baby" which made us laugh he then pointed to his tummy again and said "puppy".  Of course Cole would have a puppy in his belly, boy does that little boy make us laugh!

Snow Day

In Houston?  Seriously?  Well that means Cole is home for the day.  Lucky for Mom he is catching up on some reading and I can still get a little work done.  Looks like I have some housework to do after though since that "chair" is a toy basket that he emptied :)

Which way to the beach??

It's January and we are outside playing in water!  Doesn't get any better than that!

Puppies

Cole and I were out for a Saturday morning walk and came across these adorable puppies that were for sale.  I asked the sellers if they could guarantee they would stay that cute, not get any bigger, never have an accident on our new floors, and not ruin any furniture and if so I would take them all.  Sadly we left with none.

Cole's new ride

The sun never sets on the cool!  Cole is loving his new ride and his new shades.

Date night

Ryan had a work dinner so my favorite little boy and I headed out for a date night and to get some mac and cheese!  Sharing the large was not such a good idea, Mommy left hungry!

Our family is growing

We found out on November 7th that our family is growing!  We are so excited to announce that Baby #2 will arrive on or around July 7th!  Cole, however, is a little concerned :)

The pregnancy is going well, similar to my first one but the two big side effects - being tired and nauseous just seem a little more intense this time around.   Especially the exhaustion, unfortunately Cole doesn't really seem to understand.  At about 8 weeks my brother Vic, sister in law, and niece came to visit us in Houston.  There flight got in really late and it was close to 1 before we made it to bed and Cole was up bright and early at 5AM.  Ryan and Vic had left early for a fishing trip so it was Cole and I hanging out.  Cole loves to lay on you and tickle you if you pretend you are sleeping.  I laid down and he got distracted by another toy (or his milk cup) allowing me to dose off.  It was probably only a minute or so I was asleep when I woke up to him chanting "mess" and I found him pouring his milk all over his shirt.  While I was cleaning that up I got a phone call and the little stinker got into the Cheerios and poured those all over himself and alerted me to the "mess".  Apparently he just wanted some cereal with his milk!!

Wednesday

Water Fun

We went to our friends Morag and Travis house over the weekend and they have a water table which Cole loved.  He managed to pull himself up into the table and get his face right into the water which didn't phase him at all, he also soaked all of his clothes and we had to borrow some of his friend Aislee's clothes and being dressed in girls clothing also didn't phase him at all.  I think the tattoo on his arm keeps him looking "rough and tough" and offsets the pink leaves and embroidered flowers on his cargos!

Bam Bam

We might be biased but this is by far the cutest Bam Bam I have ever seen.  We even had a stranger at the Zoo ask us if he could take Cole's picture and then emailed us the picture below which turned out great!  Happy Halloween from the Rubbles :)

Keeps us laughing, and BUSY

I really can't believe that "Cole-man" is already 18 months old today.   I don't know what has happened but it seems like overnight our sweet little boy has turned into the most adorable little mess maker in the world.  Even though he keeps us on our toes there isn't a day where his antics don't bring a smile to our face.

For example....
- Last week I returned from a business trip and had some snacks in my bag - including Chex Mix.  I turned my back for just 1 second to find the entire bag emptied out into my suitcase - of course all over the clothes that were clean!  The highlight was after Cole finished doing this he dropped the bag of Chex and gave himself a round of applause.
-While I was on my business trip Daddy taught Cole how to get his own cereal out of the box.  This week Ryan is traveling and I get to pay for all the lessons he taught Cole while I was gone :)  It just so happened that Cole also had a 10AM doctors appointment for his 18 month check up today.  I made the mistake of thinking I could save some time and just keep Cole home with me instead of driving him to daycare and then picking him up again, while I saved time in the car my mistake was thinking I would actually get some things accomplished.  In the 5 minutes I was on the phone trying to knock out some work (note: Cole was only 2 feet from me),  Cole developed his "cereal box" skills further - and mastered pouring them out of the box....ALL.OVER.THE.FLOOR.  While I was sweeping that up (and still on the phone - multitasking is overrated) he found the spice jar of garlic and poured that all over the floor too.   Then he tried to help clean that up with his hands - I am sure the nurse and doctors questioned why a baby smells like garlic (at 10AM).  It always amazes me that people think that because I am working from home that I have Cole here with me.  Just last week on my business trip a co-worker asked me what Cole was doing since I was gone?  Are you kidding me?  He is at school just like he is when I am at home.  I would get nothing accomplished - other than getting myself fired.
-Once we got to the doctors office he was walking around and noticed a skeleton (Halloween decoration) and pointed at it and said "Daddy" - one of the nurses heard him and said "wow, your Dad must be very thin!"   Don't believe Ryan, I do feed him I swear!  Then it was time for them to get vitals on Cole - CLEARY we are feeding him.  At his 1 year appointment he was in about the 6-7% for weight, today he is at 64% - the poor little guy is still a shorty though and is not even on the charts for his height.  However his head is in the 98%.  So maybe he's a little disproportionate?  Or maybe he just has the Wyttenbach genes in this case :)
He had to get his flu shot today which he wasn't happy about at all - the nurse gave him a sucker though and he quickly forgot all about it!

Doesn't get much cuter than this

Ryan thinks Cole looks like the little kid from Jerry McGuire but we also got Drew Carey and the old man from the movie "Up" - either way this picture makes me smile.

Our trip to the Northeast

We took a trip out to NH/Boston to visit my sister Gwen and her family and Ryan's sister Erin and her husband Matt.  We had a great time - even if we were delayed eight hours on the flight home.  Nothing like taking off for a 4 hour flight with a 16 month old 1 hour past their bedtime - note: he sleeps like a champ in his BED, on an airplane - NOT.HAPPENING!!  We figured everyone on the plane would hate us by the time we arrived in Houston but Cole was a champ and thank God for a little thing called the iPad.    We even had people come up to us at the airport saying how perfect he is - we think so too!

Friday

Working on our senses.

Yesterday at Cole's school they had the little kids taste a lemon as part of working on the 5 senses. Cole of course was the first one to stick it in his mouth - he had a usual (very dramatic) response of gagging and cringing, etc but it then was followed up with a major meltdown which caused quite of few of his other friends in class to be a little gun shy on tasting the lemon......that's our Cole!  I only wish they had captured it on film for us!

Apparently Cole runs on Dunkin Donuts too

Who would have guessed the little boy that gags on a cake pop or refuses to eat his own birthday cake would love a donut?  I handed him half of mine expecting him to maybe taste the tiniest bite and gag and spit it right back out but I never got any of the donut back!
